Flashlite 1.1 & 2.x components

via Mark,

component screenshotimage2image3

Mark Doherty from adobe has released a set of components on his blog which have been design by Matt snow & team at Adobe mobile UI design.

What will you get from them:

* Discover how to create low memory yet rich components
* List, Slider, Tile, NavModel and Gapper components for Flash Lite 2.x/3.x
* Carousel, Menu, Story and scroll bars in Flash Lite 1.1
* Key Handling for Flash Lite 1.1 and Flash Lite 2.x/3.x
* Image Handling, loading and unloading etc (TileMenu)
* Creating device UI and multi-screen applications (NavModel)

I have used some of these in one of my recent projects (streamMobile) and they are a great way to implement some great looking navigation very quickly. The are also reasonably easy to customize graphically and also in implementation.

You can get them from here . enjoy!

StreamMobile Tv – FlashLite 3.0 beta Application

streamMobileTV

I have just put a flv demo online for one of the new FL applications i have been working on.

It is in effect a mobile “channel” for a company called Stream that provide On Demand video via set-top boxes & a broadband connection in your home.

The mobile client allows you to log in and view Stream’s content on the move.

It is a completely dynamic menu system, updated via the server, which allows new content to be added on the fly.

The video is handled via Flash media server, and streamed directly to the handset.

The Demo application is connected to the internet by a o2 3G connection in this video.

view the demo here, (apologies for lack of sound)

Awesome New Mobile App – Johnie Walker|Digital PA

breakDesign

the guys from break design have released a demo of their new flashlite app, Johnie Walker | Digital PA. This looks amazing and really shows the level of branded content flashlite is capable of producing.

watch it here.

New fl2.0 App – CellRemit – mobile banking – video

been working a new app for a client in Europe for the last few weeks, and have been developing a secure mobile money transfer app front end (flashlite 2.0).
The client has given me permission to show it off a bit, so i have also posted this video demo of the app in action on a nokia n80 to get a bit of feedback.

After launching the app from the mobile app menu, (sis made with swf2go), the user enters security details connects to the mobile web, then logs into his/her account. Once logged in, the user is able to :

  • check their current balance (updated instantly if money is transferred from the account)
  • transfer money to other users
  • Check latest currency rates & make conversions
  • Review previous transactions & search for specific payments/receipts
  • Really interesting to work on a more serious mobile application and it (i think ;) )works really well in your hand. All navigation is done via joypad and soft keys, and it is a version of a tabbed menu system.

Take a look, any comments would be appreciated :)

Experimental interface – 0SX media player rip off —- Prt 2 Bitmap Version

    piccy

I made a quick bitmap version to see the difference in performance. Changed the main oval to a PNG and also the reflection, which was then alpha’d to about 10%.

    Came to 2 major conclusions:

Fps and performance === Much better (on the N91)

Graphical clarity === not so good…..

Because the size changes as it drops to the background, it goes all ‘pixely’. This would not be a problem if the icon did not rescale however, and the icon just moved off to the side…..

let me know how it runs if you try it on your device.

Experimental interface – 0SX media player rip off :)

    carosel interface

    Fl1.1 / 176×208 display
Was messing around with this today, tried to recreate the look of the osx media player menu.
Interesting to see how the use off lots of gradients and the alpha reflections effects the fps play back on the devices.
Quickly knocked this together in FL 1.1.

feel free to have a go and if you don’t mind, let me know how the movement performs on different handsets. I tried it on a N91 and it was quite slow.

    Matt who?

I have been working in the mobile application industry for the last 4-5 years, initially cutting my teeth on some early Flash Lite based applications back in 2005. After a couple of years working for my self, and a number of other clients, i moved to London, and became part of the team @ ustwo™, a creative UX / UI mobile design and development studio. This is my own personal blog, and as such , all of the opinions here are my own, and in no way representative of ustwo™
