ustwo™ – Sony Ericsson Content Awards Winner 2008

The winners of the Content awards 2008 where announced today, and i can happily announce that ustwo™ won the Themes and Graphics Award this year. As i have only just joined the team, i can’t take any credit, but would love to congratulate the team on this great achievement. Special kudos to Laffers, nick and edwardo, who put in a great deal of effort to really make the ustwo wallpaper and screen saver content shine.

You can watch the virtual award short film by clicking here

Flashion is the name given to ustwo™ created Flash Lite wallpapers. Flash Lite is a medium that allows us to create Premium wallpapers with intelligent triggers. For example – time of day change, battery indicator, music mode, charging animations, accelerometer controlled graphics.

Most mobile backgrounds are static images that do little more than look pretty. This year’s winner of the Themes & Graphics category of the Sony Ericsson Content Awards offers backgrounds that have both beauty and brains.

I have just started to launch the wallpaper back catalogue that Me Mobile produced last year, and was until now only available through the Moket MCN. I have uploaded the first five pieces this week, and will continue to upload more as soon as i get a chance.

The first 5 pieces to go up are : Blossoms(re-active) , Office Guy (Randomised) , Hula Bear (looped animation), Naughty Monkey (Randomised) and Pet chihiua (randomised)

These pieces of content range from static animations (all flash lite of course ;) ) through to randomised and re-active wallpapers such as blossoms.
For the first 2 weeks or so, the me mobile content will also be available half price, as a ‘grand opening’ special offer.

It’s quite strange looking over some of these wallpapers again after such a long time, and looking forward to getting some feedback.
You can access my seller page on VoeVeo here, and check out the content for yourself. You can also access the Me Mobile website here, which contains some more examples of content to come.

Club Moket goes live – Sell your Fl content direct to consumer

clubmoket

Dale has just informed me that ClubMoket has just gone live.

Club Moket (clubmoket.mobi on your phone browser) is, to our knowledge, the first off-deck mobile portal dedicated to selling Flash Lite content. We have launched first with our “Mokimations” catalogue, featuring animated wallpapers and screensavers. Q1-2 2008 will see games, applications and mobile video added to the service. We’re really pushing out content that shows off the great visual nature of Flash, as well as handset interactivity (for clocks, random animations, MoCarbon products, etc)

This presents an entirely new and accessible channel for global customers, and one that we look forward to filling with great content from the wider FL community through the Moket Content Network.

This is great news as it gives the fl community a great opportunity to start making money from personalization content.

to read the full press release , click here

to read dales blog post , click here

and to view the .mobi site, point your mobile browsers to clubmoket.mobi, and gain access to some great flash lite content for your mobile. (or stick your number in the widget on the sidebar of this site to have a wap link sent straight to your handet via SMS)

Outside Media Wallpapers now available via Clickapps

click apps

I have uploaded my flashlite wallpaper/screensavers to be sold via the clickapps website today.

link to my clickapps wallpapers

This is a great portal site, really easy to use, and updates very fast.

Pricing again was an issue, so i decided to have a 3 tier price structure for the content so far :

$1.50 looped animation wallpapers/screensavers
$2.00 Random Actionscript animated wallpapers/screensavers
$3.00 Re-Active (living) wallpapers.

Pricing has always been a difficult point with fl content, as some (imho) is well overpriced for what it is.
I personally believe this offers good value for money, while still making it worth while doing.

My Flashlite content on Nokia Market Place

flashlite content

I have started to sell some of my flashlite wallpapers and screensavers on Nokia market place. This should make the content available via internet, wap and preminet.
This is a good resource for flashlite developers to take some of there content to market, with nokia taking a slice of the selling price for providing the portal. Very easy to sign up to, and your content should be available after a few days. Follow the below links to find out how to do it.

Code based Matrix screensaver Fl2.0

matrix screen saver

Was reading through Foundation Flash Applications for Mobile Devices this weekend, and found the flash lite 1.1 matrix screensaver example. Thought i would try making it in fl2.0, and using actionscript to randomly animate the characters in each code bar, falling code bar position on the screen, alpha and scale.

Really happy with the way it works and even managed to add a white char to 1 in 20 falling code bars created.
you can have about 5-10 bars falling at any time without (too much) slow down, and the memory consumption is not to bad. Have tested it on 5300 works fine, and have made a nokia n95 version too.
The real advantage of using fl2.0 though, was been able to utilize the Tween class for the movement.

hopefully going to try and get this one on handago along with the blossoms wallpaper. Also exploring the nokia market place, but have not heard back yet…..

Matt who?

I have been working in the mobile application industry for the last 4-5 years, initially cutting my teeth on some early Flash Lite based applications back in 2005. After a couple of years working for my self, and a number of other clients, i moved to London, and became part of the team @ ustwo™, a creative UX / UI mobile design and development studio. This is my own personal blog, and as such , all of the opinions here are my own, and in no way representative of ustwo™
